GINGER’S JAM POSTING 15: Peanut Butter Fruit

What if Peanut Butter grew on trees?  Well, in Peru and other parts of South America, it does.  Sort of —

Bunchosia argentea grows on a flowering shrub.  The size of a cherry tomato it has a fleshy pulp that has the same taste and texture as peanut butter.

The peanut butter plant will go through several blooming cycles from March until October.  It, too, can be applied with your favorite jelly – you just have to think “outside the box”.
